Information for ALL Wheelie Bins supplied by TDC (Black, Blue and Green)

What can be put into the blue lidded recycling wheelie bin?

*         Paper - newspapers, magazines, envelopes, the phone book, Yellow Pages, printer paper, paper bags, leaflets. (Shredded Paper - see note at bottom of this page)

*         Packaging boxes, pizza or food boxes (make sure all food traces are removed), ready meal sleeves, occasion cards. Large cardboard boxes must be flattened.

*         Washed out food tins, cans and tin/aluminum foil

*         Washed out and without their lids - plastic bottles and containers including drinks bottles, milk bottles, cleaning fluid bottles (for example: washing up liquid bottles), clean shampoo bottles.

         EVERYTHING DISPOSED OF IN THE BLUE LIDDED BIN MUST BE LOOSE

The black lidded wheelie bin is for all other household waste, which cannot be recycled:

*        Food waste

*        Nappies

*        Food and drink cartons e.g. orange juice carton

 

 

Handy hint:

DON'T put loose domestic waste into your BLACK lidded bin – please put your domestic waste into bags and then into your bin. You can also buy wheelie sized big bin liners from your local supermarket to help keep your wheelie bin clean.

The green lidded wheelie bin is only for green garden waste:

*         Garden weeds

*         Hedge trimmings

*         Small twigs and branches - less than 2.5cm (1") in diameter

*         Grass cuttings

*         Flowers and plants

*         Leaves

         EVERYTHING DISPOSED OF IN THE GREEN LIDDED BIN MUST BE LOOSE

Remember

*        Do not put glass items in the recycling bin, please dispose at your local glass bank or your black non recycled waste bin

 

*        If your property pays for a separate fortnightly collection for green waste, this will continue throughout the year. Properties that do not have a collection will be required to dispose of their green waste by taking it to the tip, composting at home or in the black non recycled bin

 

*        The non recycled wheelie bin should contain household waste which cannot be recycled, nappies and food waste. Cooking oil can be disposed of by placing in a plastic bottle with a secure lid

 

*        Please note that the lids on all of your wheelie bins must fit flat on the bin when full

EVERYTHING disposed of through either the Blue Lidded Bin or the Green Lidded Bin schemes must be put into the bin LOOSE this includes SHREDDED PAPER in the Blue Bin(do not bag it up)
