ACTIVE FOR LIFE

Active for Life is part of The Community Cardiac Service and the East Kent Exercise Referral Scheme. It is an exercise class available across East Kent, designed to help people to improve their health and ability to deal with the things they do in everyday life, and also to help to improve general fitness. The format may be standing, seated or in water. I run a standing class (with provision for seated if appropriate) in Minster on a Thursday morning at 9.30a.m to 10.30p.m at the Village Hall. The cost is £2.50 per person.

The class involves a comprehensive warm up, strength and cardiovascular exercise in a circuit format and an extended cool-down, but is no more strenuous than a brisk walk. Most importantly it is a fun and sociable way to meet people. Participants can be any age and do not need to be super fit to attend, just a willingness to improve and/or maintain daily functional fitness levels. Plus, anyone with any of the following conditions will find that regular exercise can help to improve symptoms and quality of life; osteoporosis, arthritis, low back pain, weight issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, mild COPD, heart disease, MS, Parkinsons.
